How much does the popularity of a school matters in the development of a child?
Question: my son is 3 yrs 4 months old.I wanted to send him to a nearby very popular boys school. But I didn't send him for two reasons-1)I want him to attend a co-educational school.2)The fee is too high of this popular school.
The only reason for which I wanted him to send to this school was that affluent class children study there.I am new to the city so I have not much idea about the quality of studies imparted over there.
As a student I attended a very good convent school of my native place. But that was a girls school only.So I know the drawbacks of studying in a pure girls or boys school. But at the same I feel guilty of not sending him to a popular school. Also it is not possible to change the schools again and again in our city.Population is too high and schools are too less.It is difficult to get admission.
How can i let my son never develop the inferiority complex of not attending a popular school when he grows up?
Answers: check out greatschools.net and look up how other schools education and test scores add up.
Popularity is one thing, but the ones where kids are passing the tests with good scores, have a high level of parental volunteer involvement, etc, is much better for your child, also see which schools in your area that still have art, music and PE programs, as these programs are just as important, in my opinion, to childhood development as the 3R's and are being cut out of the schools so that a kindergartner must learn to read by the 2nd half of the year.

The ONLY thing that matters in the development of a child is you.

wow, I think you should go with what you think is best in the education of your child! dont go with decisions that your parents made with you if you dont think theyre right, but if you think its right thyen do it!! Dont be a blinded parent! Your childs education comes first!
Just because a school isn't as popular as another one doesn't mean it isn't a good school. Give it a chance.
Anyways, your kid is only 3 years old. I don't think he is going to care much how presitigious a school is. Young kids don't judge, they get along with most other kids, despite differences. They only become aware of those kinds of things when they get older but if your son grows to love that school, he might not care that he never got to go to a popular school, whatever that means. And if he wants to switch when he's older, then talk about it when the time comes.
It is not the school that makes the difference, but the teacher! Check out many schools and go with what makes you feel the best. I personally feel if the school welcomes you like a family it will do the same with your child!
I was never in the popular crowd at school. I had my own set of close friends that I hung out with at school and did not care if I was a popular student.

Preschool education does not have to be academic think about pre-readiness skills. Following a schedule, taking turns, fine motor development, gross motor development and the #1 language concepts and

Make everything a challenge and they might get excited to do something. Like clean up time, show the kids how fast you can put toys in the bucket... ask can you pick up the toys too? Lets have a race.
