How come school bell are know longer bells they are tones?
Question: why is it on TV you see at old schools when the bell rings it a bbbbbbrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiinnnnnnnngggg! but nowadays it is a monotonous tone that aggravates me because it exceptionally high pitched!

Now, it's more practical to have speakers throughout a larger area, the irritability of their tone is adustable. Get a group petition going to get it changed. Shoot for a rap or hip hop message, settle for something more pleasing .
Bells tend to startle people and make them more tense. Tones are more soothing and pleasant. That's why they do it. (sorry you don't like it, but that's the way it is for most people, and majority rules, you know).
