Why cant we have cell phones at school?
Question: is it just unfair when teachers and staff and have a cell phone and txt and make calls in school.
at my school teachers just basiclly do that and theres no rule about it.
what if we have a bomb threat or gun threat or another 9/11 at our school and we cant even call home or to make any other emergency call.
i mean if it was the other way around and students could have phones and teachers not,you know there would be a huge problem.
*i dont use my phone to cheat!
*i dont take or make calls during class!
*i dont txt anybody unless it an emergency!
*i do use my phone to take notes.
*i do use my phone for emergenys only.(unless out of class)
WHAT IS JUST THE BIG DEAL WITH THE RULE A CANT STUDENT HAVING A CELL PHONE AT SCHOOL AND A TEACHER BEING ABLE TO HAVE ONE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Answers: I can use cell phones at my school, but the reason is what you listed. People can text eachother answers during a test giving them unfair advantages.
Teachers can use cell phones because they can control themselves and are trusted as individuals. Because you can't limit certain people from using cell phones to cheat, they have to limit everyones usage. Getting rid of cell phones all together gets rid of the problem all together.
I'm sure you wouldn't use it for a wrong purpose, but there's no way that all students would be that honest and upstanding. There have been many cases of kids taking nude pix of classmates in locker rooms and bathrooms and putting them on myspace as well as using them to txt test answers, take photos of tests to sell, and other schemes to cheat and cause problems.
My daughter took hers to school and left it turned off so she could call me to pick her up after an after-school dance, but it was stolen from a commons area. We were pretty much without recourse as she couldn't report something stolen she wasn't even supposed to have at school. My point is how not all kids are honest, as evidenced by this phone getting stolen. What would keep your phone from falling into the wrong hands and being used for improper purposes? How could teachers/administrators ever hope to enforce rules about them? Just better to keep them a prohibited item than even open that can of worms!

first you just gave us reasons why there shouldn't be cell phones. Not everyone is as responsible as you. My mom is a bus driver and kids on her bus make prank phone calls on the bus all the time and it drives her nuts. Not only are prank phone calls aren't nice they do it at 7 in the morning.

we can bring cell phones to school...its allowed...
but we cannot keep it on during school hours. and it must remain hidden at all times. and i always bring mine to school....dont know why your school wont let you....i guess its a bad school?
