I am trying to get over 30 in ACT?

Question: By the way, my scores are math33, reading18, english21 and science 22. How can i improve reading and english in a short period of time? I really need a good answer for this cuz i have have a test in 2months
Answers: wow, our scores are close to opposite. I had math: 19, reading: 27, english: 27, snd science: 25.

Before I took the test, I remember reading something that gave an explantion about how one of the best ways to improve your reading score is actually to not read the selections before you start answering questions. It sounded very weird to me, but the idea is that once you read a question, you'll have a good idea of exactly the information your looking for. With that, you should be able to pick a keyword in the question and skim the text until you find exactly what you need to know. This means that you have to skim through every selection a couple of times whil;e you answer the questions, but you'd almost certainly be doing that anyway unless you have unbelievable encoding/retention skills--basically a near-photographic memory would be needed to only read everything once.

I tried doing it that way and it worked extremely well for me, although I wouldn't reccomend it without you practicing at least once before you go into the test to find out if you like it. They should have practice questions on ACT's website.

As for the english section, the only real way to succeed on that is to learn your grammar and then pay atention to the little hings when you're taking the test. Any good prep book should be able to elp you with that. I think that comma splices are one of the most commonly missed punctuation-errrors. This is basically when too much information is put into a sentence and the offending comma either needs to be seperated into two sentences or replaced by a semi-colon.

I'm leaving a few good english-related links for you. Oh, and don't be afraid to write on your test: especially in the reading section! If you do choose to read or skim it before answering, you can always underline or point to anything that looks like important information!

Good luck on your test!
wow, good luck on the test! a lot of my friend bought AP test and ACT test prep books and they said it helped them out a lot. however one of my friends took it with a hang over and got a 32, you could always try that.
i took the test after partying all night....i was half asleep and got a 32 also. otherwise, get some prep books, and start training yourself on how to answer the reading questions. the only intelligence it's really testing is whether or not you can figure out the strategy and method to acing these types of test. once you kill on one, you can kill on any of them.
