How do you prepare for the SAT?
Question: Im planning to take the SAT the first week of May but I dont know when or how to start studying. I have the recent SAT study guide book and i guess a few sources online.
Should i start studying now or a week before the test so ill have fresher knowledge on it.
Please answer with advice and internet sites that help with the SAT
Answers: Start studying ASAP. The SAT does not test you on your knowledge, but rather on your ability to think things through and to use your logic. Studying now will give you the time you need to start understanding the tricks of the test. Actually, I feel like you shouldn't have waited this long....
Some suggestions: Get the official SAT book from collegeboard.com, which I believe they sell in bookstores. Make sure you time yourself while you take these tests, and don't let yourself cheat. It's tempting, but it'll only hurt you on the real test. I think as long as you keep taking the practice tests, you'll be fine for the real thing.
Good luck!
I'm taking the test in May too, and you are waaay behind here, honest you probably sould have started studying much earlier, but now its crack down time! Start immeadiatly go to collegeboard.com and take their online practice test (it's under students and then SAT prep) and figure out which area you want to improve your score in then go to barnes and noble (or another book store) and pick up the princeton review's book on that section (i.e. Math workout for the New SAT) you also want to get a book that offers other practice tests such as Princeton Review's 11 SATs or College Boards official Guide to the SAT. Go over every section the practice book and cover the basic topics in the big guide book, take another practice test and see if you improved. I also suggest you take a test at least once a week until the big one, you want to be farmiliar with the format so you don't lose points because you took too long reading the directions.
